About me

For me being a therapist was a calling.  I knew in kindergarten what I wanted to be when I grew up and,  though therapist was not a typical answer for most 6 year old's,  I knew it was what I was meant to do.  I enjoy getting to know my clients, creating a supportive and accepting environment and helping them find the insights and skills to find a healthy balance and achieve their goals and dreams. 

I have a bachelors degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey and pursued my master's degree in social work at Columbia University.  I started my career in residential treatment with psychiatrically fragile youth who could no longer be in their homes.  It was both difficult and rewarding to help these children and their families face their struggles, heal and ultimately return to their homes.  I was then part of a large community mental health clinic for 8 years servicing children and families dealing with a range of mental health issues.  I then began to search for a place I could provide mental health care where the client was the priority which led me to join a large private group practice in New York where I worked for 14 years.  I am now practicing in California where I relocated with my family in 2020.  In all of these settings I conducted individual, family, couple, and group counseling and gained over 20 years of hands on experience in helping people recover from mental health struggles.
